Phase 1: 1 teacher-to-3 students. Phase 1 content. This intensive course is designed for Year 11 students preparing for the IGCSE English Literature exam. The course aims to improve and maximise students' grades by focusing on comprehension and analytical skills. Students will engage with a variety of literary texts, including novels, plays, and poetry, developing their ability to analyse and interpret literature critically. The course is tailored to meet individual student needs, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the IGCSE English Literature exam. This course is also suitable for students taking exams from other boards, with content adapted as necessary. Hour 1: Prose - Analysing Language Lesson Objective: To learn how to write a prose analytical paragraph. Homework: Prose exercise Hour 2: Prose - Extract Question Lesson Objective: To learn how to approach, plan and write an extract question Homework: Prose exercise Hour 3: Prose - Whole Text Question Lesson Objective:To learn how to approach, plan and write a whole text question Homework: Prose exercise Hour 4: Poetry - Analysing Language Lesson Objective: To learn how to analyse language of a poem Homework: Poetry exercise Hour 5: Poetry - Analysing Form and Structure Lesson Objective: To learn how to analyse form and structure of a poem Homework: Poetry exercise Hour 6: Poetry - Essay Question Lesson Objective: To learn how to approach, plan and write a poetry essay question Homework: Poetry exercise Hour 7: Drama - Analysing Language Lesson objective: To learn how to analyse the language of a play Homework: Drama Exercise Hour 8: Drama - Analysing Stage Instructions, Character Descriptions and Punctuation Lesson Objective: To learn how to analyse the different aspects of drama: stage instructions, character descriptions and punctuation Homework: Drama Exercise Hour 9: Drama - Essay Question Lesson Objective: To learn how to approach, plan and structure a drama essay question Homework: Drama Exercise Hour 10: End of Course Assessment Lesson Objective: To demonstrate what has been learned on the course and received detailed feedback Homework: General revision of what has been covered on the course
