Phase 2: It is a 1-to-3 course. The main focus of this course is learning how to write fluently and effectively in English with varied sentence structure, ambitious vocabulary and a variety of figurative language. We also factor in past papers from a variety of well-known independent schools to prepare the students for the range of exams that they may take. 1. Introduction: 'Good' vs. 'Bad' Creative Writing + Using Descriptive Adjectives 2. Writing with the 5 Senses 3. Figurative Language: Simile, Metaphor, Personification, Onomatopoeia, Alliteration 4. Micro & Macro: Zooming in & Zooming Out 5. Detailed Descriptions: Describing Setting + Describing Character 6. Controlling Mood & Atmosphere 7. Technical Ability: Punctuation, Varied Sentences, Paragraphing, Pace 8. Think Like an Examiner: Planning, Marking + Proofreading Your Work 9. Exam Technique: Timing, Checklists + the 3 Common GCSE Question Types 10. Revision + End of Term Assessment
