Service Description
Phase 2 content Group Lesson: 1 teacher-to-3 students Target Audience: Ages 9–11 (UK Years 5–6) Why Take the Primary Maths Challenge? Standard school curricula are often designed for the average learner, which can leave high-achieving students feeling unchallenged. The PMC provides the "missing piece" by introducing students to the world of competitive mathematics. It isn’t just about getting the right answer; it’s about learning to think like a mathematician. Success in the PMC is a fantastic way to build confidence ahead of 11+ entrance exams and selective school interviews. What We Cover We dive into the rich world of mathematical problem-solving, using concepts students are already familiar with—such as geometry, number logic, and sequences—but applying them in ways they’ve never seen before. We focus on: Logical reasoning and "out-of-the-box" thinking. Identifying patterns and shortcuts. Decoding word-heavy problems into mathematical equations. Teaching Style & Student Takeaways This is an interactive, fast-paced course. We use an "Active Learning" model: students complete a challenge paper in advance, and our class time is dedicated to deconstructing the most difficult problems. Problem-Solving Mastery: Move beyond rote memorization to genuine understanding. Exam Readiness: Develop the resilience needed for timed, high-pressure environments. Intellectual Growth: Gain the tools to tackle complex problems that seem "impossible" at first glance. Lesson 1: Paper 2018 Lesson 2: Paper 2020 Lesson 3: Paper 2021 Lesson 4: Paper 2001 Lesson 5: Paper 2002
