Phase 2: In every lesson we will review content, focussing on using good Biological vocabulary, debunking common student errors and using practice questions from past papers. Good exam techniques will be thoroughly embedded throughout the course. Students often lose time by not understanding how to start an answer effectively. I will work on this during every lesson as an intrinsic activity. Phase 2 aims to cover the 2nd half of most syllabuses. I can adapt to the students’ actual syllabuses when known. This often covers the trickier material on the usual Biology GCSE/IGCSE courses. Lesson 1: Blood and organs, immunity heart and circulation Kidneys, excretion and osmoregulation Lesson 2: Co-ordination and response. Neurones, reflexes, the eye, the brain, Hormones and homeostasis, plant responses. Lesson 3: Reproduction and inheritance. Mitosis and meiosis. Plant and human reproduction. Asexual reproduction, menstrual cycle. Genetics and interpreting genetic diagrams Lesson 4: Evolution and Natural selection, Ecosystems Carbon Cycle Nitrogen cycle Air and water pollution. Deforestation Lesson 5: Use of Biological resources . Farming, making yoghurt, using yeast, selective breeding, fish farming, genetic engineering, cloning.
