English & French
Education background highlights: English Literature BA Hons at the University of Durham. A*A*A at A-Level (in English Literature, French and Art respectively), as well as 10 A*s + 1 A at GCSE Level.
Brief self-introduction: Bilingual British-Italian tutor who specialises in teaching Humanities, particularly English Literature and French up to A Level.
Tutor’s skills: Likes to find creative and fun ways to work through areas of difficulty. Students are encouraged to develop their confidence and expand their thinking, whilst also being motivated to master exam techniques.
Teaching Style: I adopt a friendly and flexible approach to teaching, tailoring each lesson to meet my students' unique needs and learning styles. I assess whether they learn best through reading/writing, auditory, visual, or kinesthetic methods and adapt the sessions accordingly to provide optimal support. While personalising lessons is essential, I also emphasise a balanced mix of teaching methods to help students build on their strengths as well as their weaknesses. Additionally, I encourage tutorial-style discussions as I believe they are most effective in tackling areas of difficulty and enhancing students’ confidence. Setting clear goals for each lesson allows students to recognize their progress and identify areas for improvement. Most importantly, I strive to create a fun and engaging environment where students can enjoy learning and feel motivated to push their boundaries, fostering genuine enthusiasm and confidence in the subject rather than merely focusing on ”getting it right”.
