Brief self-introduction:
English and History specialist with over 3 years tutoring experience. Professional actor and writer. Abundant experience with KS3, GCSE and A-Level students.


Tutor’s skills: I like to engage students in discussion and debate to improve confidence and creativity. I particularly enjoy unlocking trickier texts for students - Shakespeare and 19th century novels, for example - through accessible explanation.


Teaching style:
Over the years, I have found that students grow in both confidence and attainment when they receive support that is both thorough and empathetic. Flexibility is incredibly important to me; I always adapt to the needs and personality of the student. I create a safe space in which any question can be asked and build a rapport based on trust with the student. To enable the student to take ownership of their development, I help them to identify areas of strength and weakness and formulate a strategy for improvement. Detailed feedback on written work is absolutely necessary for improvement in humanities subjects, and this is something I aim to provide students with on a regular basis. Discussion and debate also forms an integral part of my sessions, both engaging and challenging the student.
