Summer GCSE Maths A/A* 1- Laurie

Saturday . Phase 1. 1-to-3.

  • Starts 11 May
  • 580 British pounds

Service Description

Maths GCSE advanced is a course offered at age 14-16 aiming for Grade 8-9 or A/A*. The objective is to consolidate and improve a student’s maths problem-solving and exam skills. It would be useful for preparing for GCSE/ IGCSE exams. We make sure a student is secure in their knowledge in the six main categories of GCSE/ IGCSE maths exams, including Numbers, Geometry, Algebra, Data, Ratio and proportion, and Probability. This 10-week course will cover the topics between Grade 8-9 or A/A*. We expect the students to have learned the basics in school because we will look at other variations on the standard questions each of which will help to develop a more principled understanding of the content and an appreciation of how it can be applied more broadly. We will work through the Grade 8-9 or A/A* topics and questions in each phase which have applications to many different types of questions and (where appropriate) extend understanding of this content beyond what is usually required at GCSE/IGCSE. The course is designed to help the students not only understand maths knowledge, but more importantly how to apply them to solve high level maths problems in order to achieve Grade 8-9 or A/A*. All courses contain a variety of reference material, exercises and activities designed to consolidate a student’s knowledge as well as stretch and challenge them to improve. Maths problem solving questions are not standard maths calculation problems. It is full of unexpectancies and irregularities and our expert tutors are patient and knowledgeable. Lesson 1:Completing the square Lesson 2: Probability equation Lesson 3: Proof Lesson 4: Quadratic simultaneous equations Lesson 5: Transforming graphs Lesson 6: Vectors Lesson 7: Velocity-time graphs Lesson 8: Perpendicular lines Lesson 9: Proof of circle theorems Lesson 10: Quadratic inequalities
