Service Description

9+ VR: Phase 1 It is a 1-to-3 course. This course has been designed in accordance with the Department for Education's National Curriculum for Lower Key Stage 2 [Years 3 and 4] (in effect as of September 2013). It covers the essential Parts of Speech for this age range, with a focus on several key points of grammar and punctuation usage. The course is designed to prepare 9+ students for Leo Tuition's existing 11+ VR Programme. Verbal Reasoning is a skill that is primarily examined amongst the younger students at 9+, 11+ and sometimes 13+ level. The main focus of each course is building knowledge and understanding of verbal reasoning and learning how to answer a variety of different questions. Verbal reasoning can be defined as the ability to understand and comprehend concepts expressed through language, think constructively and apply logic to solve problems. Our courses gradually increase in difficulty and challenge as they prepare the students for the age-appropriate entrance exam that they will be taking. They will be guided along each step of the way by our tutors as they explain the full range of questions that the students might encounter and how to answer each one. Each course includes areas designed to build a student’s confidence, ways to improve their verbal reasoning skills in all areas and lots of hints and tips for how to boost their mark in an exam situation. We also factor in past papers from a variety of well-known independent schools to prepare the students for the range of exams that they may take.
