Service Description

Phase 1: It is a 1-to-3 class. Phase 1 The main focus of the course is learning how to write fluently and effectively in English with varied sentence structure, ambitious vocabulary and a variety of figurative language. Scheme of work: Lesson 1: Describing pictures: animals and nature Focus on developing ideas – going beyond what you can see. Grammar focus: Present tense Use of powerful adjectives and similes. (Introduce metaphor) Using lists Lesson 2: Describing pictures: people Developing ideas – using clues in the picture to develop a backstory Grammar focus: Present tense Adjectives, similes, (and metaphor) Using ‘maybe’, ‘I wonder’, ‘I imagine’ Using conjunctions to extend sentences Lesson 3: Describing people – character and personality. Describe someone you know well. Likes and dislikes Grammar focus: Present tense Use of ‘because’ to extend sentences and explain. If…then clauses Lesson 4: Describing magical creatures Using all the senses Grammar focus: Choosing the best adjectives and similes Rules for combining adjectives Using rhetorical questions Introduce paragraphing Lesson 5: Developing and describing settings: indoor settings Using all the senses. Describe a room in your house Grammar focus: Using prepositions to guide the reader around the scene. Starting sentences with prepositional phrases. Using lists.
