Service Description

Phase 1: 1-to-3. Phase 1 content. This course is for GCSE/IGCSE exams in Grammar schools and Independent schools, and UKiset In half terms and holidays, we offer intensive courses in preparation for English Language GCSE/IGCSE, with a focus on improving and maximising a student’s grade. English Language will focus on both the comprehension skills and creative writing skills, for fiction and non-fiction writing, for English Language GCSE/IGCSE. This course will be suitable for students taking any GCSE or IGCSE examination board and will be tailored as much as possible to the individual needs of the student. Session 1:English Language – Basic Skills Lesson Objective: To learn how to select explicit and implicit information from a text, write a summary and look at structural features. Homework: Exercises based on GCSE board that the student is studying. Session 2: English Language – Advanced skills Lesson Objective: To learn how to compare texts and analyse language within them. Homework: Exercises based on GCSE board that the student is studying. Session 3: English Language: Creative Writing – narrative and descriptive Lesson Objective: To learn how to plan and write a creative task, narrative and descriptive. Homework: Planning a descriptive or narrative piece of creative writing. Session 4: English Language - Creative Writing – Persuade, Argue, Inform, Explain Lesson Objective: To learn how to plan and write a creative task, persuasive, argumentative, informative or explanatory. Homework:Planning a persuasive, argumentative, informative or explanatory piece of creative writing. Session 5: English Language - Consolidation Lesson Objective: To consolidate the learning of the course and work through some GCSE questions together with feedback. Homework: Revision and Consolidation of what has been covered on the course.
