Service Description

Phase 1. 1-to-4. A high-quality science education provides the foundations for understanding the world through the specific disciplines of biology, chemistry and physics. Science has changed our lives and is vital to the world’s future prosperity, and all pupils should be taught essential aspects of the knowledge, methods, processes and uses of science. Through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils should be encouraged to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They should be encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes. The course aims : .develop physics knowledge and conceptual understanding through the specific disciplines of physics .develop understanding of the nature, processes and methods of physics through different types of physics enquiries that help them to answer scientific questions about the world around them . .are equipped with the physics knowledge required to understand the uses and implications of science, today and for the future. The course is designed for KS3 Physics specification. The 10 lessons will cover four big ideas (Forces, Electromagnetics, Energy and Waves). Lesson 1: Energy and energy transfer Different types of energy. Transferring energy between these types. Moving a force through a distance. Energy transfer through heating. Principle of conservation of energy Lesson 2: Energy and energy transfer Fuels and energy resources. Generating and using electricity, cost of electricity. Matter and particles. Diffusion Lesson 3: Forces and motion Calculating speed using distance and time. Distance time graphs. Relative speed. The effect of. unbalanced forces on movement. Friction and resistance. Force diagrams Lesson 4: Forces and Motion Moments. Forces and elasticity. Pressure Lesson 5: Waves Water waves and their properties. Light waves and their properties. Reflection and refraction. Colour Lesson 6: Waves Sound waves. Hearing. Energy and waves. Ultrasound and its uses Lesson 7: Electricity and Magnetism Electrical circuits: definitions of key terms; forming a circuit. Measuring current and voltage. Series and parallel circuits Lesson 8: Electricity and Magnetism Static electricity. Bar magnets. Electromagnets Lesson 9: Space Weight, mass and gravity. The solar system. Day, night and the four seasons Lesson 10: Exam Q&A
