Service Description

It is a 1-to-3 course Phase 2 Course Overview: This 20-week comprehensive course is structured into two phases, each consisting of 10 lessons. It is designed for students aiming to excel in the GCSE/IGCSE Maths exam, focusing on topics typically covered at grades 5 to 7 (grade C to B). While the course assumes a foundational understanding of basic maths concepts, it delves into more complex variations and applications to foster a deeper and broader comprehension of the material. This approach helps students develop principled understanding and the ability to apply mathematical concepts in diverse contexts. Course Objectives: To deepen students' understanding of key mathematical concepts between grades 5 and 7 (grade C to B). To enhance problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning. To prepare students to confidently tackle a wide range of GCSE/IGCSE maths questions. Course Outline: Lesson 1: Direct and Inverse Proportion Understanding direct proportion and inverse proportion to solve related problems Lesson 2: Compound Measures and Standard Form Compound measures such as speed, density, and pressure Using standard form to express large and small numbers. Lesson 3: Spheres and Cones, Similar Shapes Volume and surface area of spheres and cones Solving problems involving similarity Lesson 4: Area of Sectors and Length of Arcs, Circle Theorems The area of sectors and the length of arcs in circles. Applying circle theorems to solve geometric problems Lesson 5: Repeated Percentage Change and Inequalities Regions Repeated percentage changes, such as compound interest Inequalities on graphs and solving problems involving regions. Lesson 6: Product Rule for Counting and Recurring Decimals Applying the product rule for counting to solve combinatorial problems Converting between recurring decimals and fractions. Lesson 7: Histograms and Inverse and Composite Functions Constructing and interpreting histograms to represent data distributions. Using inverse functions and composite functions to solve problems. Lesson 8: Iteration and Quadratic Formula Using iterative methods to find approximate solutions to equations. Solving quadratic equations using the quadratic formula. Lesson 9: Congruence and Surds Exploring the concept of congruence Simplifying and manipulating surds Lesson 10: Trigonometric and Exponential Graphs, Venn Diagrams Plotting and interpreting trigonometric and exponential graphs Using Venn diagrams to solve problems involving sets and probabilities
