Phase 2: It is a 1-to-3 class. Phase 2 The main focus of the course is learning how to write fluently and effectively in English with varied sentence structure, ambitious vocabulary and a variety of figurative language. There will be homework assignments in each lesson. Session 1 – Analysis Elements of a short story: Identification and analysis of the features of a good short story. Lesson Objective: To identify the elements of a short story. Analysis of texts Session 2 - Skills Advanced Figurative Language: Personification, onomatopoeia and alliteration Lesson Objective: To learn how to use advanced figurative language Session 3 - Skills Show, Don’t Tell: Showing, not telling a character’s emotions. Lesson Objective: To show, not tell a character’s emotions by using the character’s actions and words. Session 4 - Writing Creating Atmosphere: Building suspense in a story. Lesson Objective: To learn how to build suspense in a story. Session 5 - Writing Twists and turns: Writing an effective ending Lesson Objective: To write an effective ending. Session 6 - Skills Creating Conversations: Using dialogue to reveal character and advance plot. Lesson Objective: To use dialogue to reveal character and advance plot. Session 7 - Analysis/ Planning Fact Vs Opinion: Identify the features of a persuasive text.
