Phase 1 Only 4 Students in a class. Face-to-face lessons in 333 Hennessy Road, Wan Chai. Maths problem solving is a course offered at age 11 -14 to consolidate and improve a student’s maths problem-solving skills. It would be useful for preparing for 13+ exams. We make sure a student is secure in their knowledge in the six main categories of 13+ maths exams, including Numbers, Geometry, Algebra, Data, Ratio and proportion, and Probability. The course is designed to help the students not only understand maths knowledge, but more importantly how to apply them to solve maths problems. All courses contain a variety of reference material, exercises and activities designed to consolidate a student’s knowledge as well as stretch and challenge them to improve. Maths problem solving questions are not standard maths calculation problems. It is full of unexpectancies and irregularities and our expert tutors are patient and knowledgeable. Numbers: Basic number Fractions, ratio and proportion Powers and standard form Counting, accuracy, powers Geometry: Angles Transformations Length, area and volume Right-angled triangles (Pythagoras’ theorem, trigonometry) Algebra: Numbers and sequences Algebraic manipulation Linear graphs Equations and inequalities Quadratic equations Graphs Data: Statistical diagrams and averages Sampling and more complex diagrams Ratio and Proportion: Ratio Proportion (Best buys) Repeated percentage change Reverse percentage Probability: Exploring and applying probability Combined events
