Service Description
Phase 1: 1-to-3. Phase 1 content. This intensive course is designed for Year 11 students preparing for the GCSE English Literature exam. The course aims to improve and maximise students' grades by focusing on both comprehension and analytical skills. Students will engage with a variety of literary texts, including novels, plays, and poetry, developing their ability to analyse and interpret literature critically. The course is tailored to meet individual student needs, ensuring comprehensive preparation for the GCSE English Literature exam. This course is also suitable for students taking exams from other boards, with content adapted as necessary. Paper 1: Shakespeare and the 19th -century novel Session 1: Lesson Objective: Context of William Shakespeare, his times, influences and world Homework: Research into Shakespeare Session 2: Lesson Objective: To learn how to approach an extract question Homework: Highlighting and annotating a Shakespeare extract. Session 3: Lesson Objective: To learn how to plan a Shakespeare extract question. Homework: Planning a Shakespeare extract question. Session 4: Lesson Objective: To learn what to include in a Shakespeare analytical paragraph Homework: Writing a Shakespeare analytical paragraph. Session 5: Lesson Objective: To plan and write a Shakespeare extract essay. Homework: Revision. Session 6: Lesson Objective: To learn how to approach a whole text question Homework: Notes on a Shakespeare play Session 7: Lesson objective: To learn how to plan a whole text question Homework: Planning a whole text essay Session 8: Lesson Objective: To learn how to integrate audience response into a whole text question Homework: Writing a paragraph with a focus on audience response Session 9: Lesson Objective: To learn how to write a whole text analytical paragraph and link ideas to other parts of the play Homework: Writing analytical paragraphs linking parts of the play Session 10: Lesson Objective: Planning and writing a Shakespeare whole text essay Homework: Revision
