Service Description
It is a 1-to-3 course. Phase 1 Course Overview: This 20-week comprehensive course is structured into two phases, each consisting of 10 lessons. It is designed for students aiming to excel in the GCSE/IGCSE Maths exam, focusing on core topics. While the course assumes a foundational understanding of basic maths concepts, it delves into more complex variations and applications to foster a deeper and broader comprehension of the material. Course Objectives: To deepen students' understanding of key mathematical concepts To enhance problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning. To prepare students to confidently tackle a wide range of GCSE/IGCSE maths questions. To extend students' knowledge beyond standard GCSE requirements where appropriate. Course Outline: Phase 1: Lesson 1: Quadratics and Solving Quadratics by Factorising Understanding the properties of quadratic equations. Techniques for factorising and solving quadratic equations. Lesson 2: Gradient of a Line and SOHCAHTOA Calculating the gradient of linear equations. Applying trigonometric ratios (SOHCAHTOA) to solve problems. Lesson 3: Ratio Problems and Ratio Fraction Problems Solving complex ratio problems. Converting between ratios and fractions to solve various questions. Lesson 4: Simultaneous Equations and Tree Diagrams Methods for solving simultaneous equations. Using tree diagrams to calculate probabilities. Lesson 5: Fractional and Negative Indices, Parallel and Perpendicular Lines Simplifying expressions with fractional and negative indices. Understanding and applying the properties of parallel and perpendicular lines. Lesson 6: Box Plots and Cumulative Frequency, Expanding Triple Brackets Constructing and interpreting box plots and cumulative frequency graphs. Techniques for expanding expressions with triple brackets. Lesson 7: Changing the Subject and Rearranging Harder Formulae Methods for changing the subject of an equation. Rearranging complex formulae to isolate variables. Lesson 8: Algebraic Fractions and Area of Any Triangle Simplifying and solving problems involving algebraic fractions.
