Phase 1 (Autumn term): For age 9-11 student. 1 to 8. Description of Storytelling Course The best learning experiences are those that are enjoyable. This stimulating course will introduce young learners to the magic and wonder of sharing stories. Our team has hand-picked a range of books containing child-friendly topics and imaginative characters. The group environment means that all students, from the shyest to the most confident, are able to participate and learn. What skills do children learn from storytelling? Storytelling is a unique way for students to develop and broaden their understanding. Sharing stories together helps to bring language alive and creates a participatory and immersive experience that allows young learners to enjoy hearing the language in a dynamic and entertaining way. Students develop their communication skills, focus and social skills as well as improving their knowledge of vocabulary and literary techniques. Lesson 1-4: A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens Lesson 5-8: The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time - by Mark Haddon Lesson 9-12: Skellig by David Almond
